Chapel 10/27/10

There are a lot of things that can go wrong in life, unexpected problems and situations that can be overwhelming. Life is far from comfortable. It is easy to dwell upon our own problems and struggles; it is much harder to look beyond ourselves to see other people. However, there is a desperate need for this. When we strive to care about other’s lives it brings us together. Life can be so different when you have people supporting you and challenging you, it becomes something much more meaningful. As our chapel speaker said though, unity does not just happen we have to make it happen.

Chapel 10/20/10

“I’ll do it tomorrow.” This a phrase I often use without thinking. It is so easy to put things off because of busyness or because I just don’t want to deal with it, the reasons can go on and on. However, as our Chapel speaker reminded us we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Tomorrow could never come, and then that list of things we put off would be nothing more than a list. Perhaps one of the things we should have done would have made a difference in someone’s life, a difference that will never be made because we put too much stock in tomorrow. We don’t know what the future holds, and we don’t know what might have been. What we can do is seek God because he will help us to live fully today and not in tomorrow.

Chapel 9/29/10

Have you ever seen a fake flower? They can be pretty and you don’t have to worry about them dying, but are they just as good as a real flower? Fake flowers aren’t alive and they don’t grow. They don’t become more beautiful day by day or create more flowers once they are gone. As a Christian are you alive or dead? Are you the same year by year or are you growing with Christ? This week in chapel the speaker told us that if we are alive we need to be growing. Spending time with God helps us to grow. We can call ourselves Christians, but if we don’t make the effort to seek God we are no different than fake flowers. When we run after God he can make our lives something beautiful.
