“If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?”1 John 4:20 NIV.
What Mrs. Hudson spoke about this morning was how to relate to one another properly. How we treat one another ultimately comes down to how we view one another. Sadly, I've heard so many people say that they hate someone that they don't like or are jealous of. Immediately my mind goes to this verse. Apparently if we don't love one another we cannot possibly love God. This seems really difficult because, face it, God is awesome and people are not always very lovable. But here's the amazing thing about coming into relationship with God: you can become like Him, and God is love. This is why love is not something characteristic of the loved subject. It is characteristic of the lover. This ties into what Mr. Kemerling said at the beginning of chapel about the Holy Spirit manifesting Himself within us. Only when we are indwelled by Love (God) are we able to love.
What's happening:
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Shoebox for Soldiers program. We know that our gifts will be appreciated by our men and women overseas.
As I said in chapel this morning, we will be having a wii tournament on Saturday, December 12th from 6:30 to 10:00 at DCHS. You can sign up for the different events you want to participate in and we'll have prizes for the winners of each category! Sign-up sheets are on the bulletin boards across the hall from the lockers. We're gonna feed you pizza so the event will cost $2.00 per person.
Also, Girls Bible Study will begin on Monday, December, 7th! We'll have it in the music room from 5:15 to 6:30 right after girls' basketball practice. There is a sign up sheet for that on the bulletin board opposite the lockers so we can estimate how many will be coming.
