Chapel & Upcoming J-term – September 2, 2009

This week’s chapel speaker was Michael DiGiacoma. This past summer he took a mission trip to Africa. He had the chance to view what people go through in that part of the world. “Every morning, students get up and walk about 15 miles to school dragging along their little brothers or sisters,” says Michael. Most of the older children are the head of their households at the age of 12 to 14 having lost their parents to the aids epidemic which is killing many Africans. Michael says that the most joyful day is when everyone comes together to worship. The church is outside and everyone is happy and worshiping God.

Mr. Dukes also talked to the school about the Jamaica J-term trip. DCHS will be offering this as one option for the J-term. Be on the lookout for J-term information in the upcoming weeks. If you think that the Jamaica trip might be something your are interested in please attend the meeting Tuesday, September 08, 2009 at 6:30 during the PTF meeting.
