God Is At Work At DCHS

During this school year the spiritual emphasis team set a theme for chapels and the whole spiritual element of Delmarva Christian High School. As many of you know the theme for the entire year is Striving for Excellence.

Chapels this year have certainly lined up with this theme. Today's chapel speaker, Dr Barr, spoke on accountability. The students were challenged to be answerable, responsible, and accountable to God. Right from the beginning in Genesis 1:1 we are informed that "God created the heavens and earth." Because God is ultimately responsible for everything we must be responsible with what God gives us. This include possessions, talents, opportunities, and actions. While most of us have heard a message like this before it is wonderful to go back to the basics and ground ourselves in the Word.

Even the basics are tough and it is easy to fall short of your own standards and very easy to fall short of God's standards. One way that we as Christians can help each other to withstand temptation and live up to God's standards is by forming a triple cord. Dr. Barr instructed us that in Ecclesiastes 4:12 Solomon writes "a cord of three is not easily broken". We were challenged to find two friends that we can create a triple cord with. These friends should be people that will truly help us. Please take this challenge seriously. I know from my own experience that having a group of three friends is the most beneficial way to stay accountable and withstand temptation.

The spiritual emphasis team works very hard to plan these chapels so please make sure that you give your input to those members.

Thank you,
Meghan

Bible Studies

As many of you know we started a boys' and girls' Bible study in September. During the studies we are reading Every Young Man's Battle and Every Young Woman's Battle. Dinner is provided during this time of fellowship.

We have developed a schedule for the studies so please mark your calenders. The boys' and girls' studies will take place the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 5:30 - 7:30 (after practice). If you do not play a sport you may go to the library in between school and the Bible study.

The next Bible study will be held October 16th.

In November we will meet on November 6th and 13th, the 13th however is the second Thursday.

In December we will meet on the 4th and 18th.

Again this Bible study is open to the entire student body.

Hope you can make it!
