So its not January 1st but in the lives of teenagers and teachers the beginning of fall represents a new year. Your Delmarva Christian SLC is well on its way to success. We have just returned from camping at Trap Pond where we held our fist official meeting of the 2008-2009 school year. We have tons of ideas and plans to put them into action. We are going to need some help from all you guys too.
I'll recap what we have planned for just the first two months of school.
The executive board: Peter Gorgui, Tara Munro, Caleb Craig, and Sarah Betts, have selected devotions that will begin being read on the first day of classes. They have also began preparing for bible studies that they will lead beginning the 15th of September. There will be a guys study of "Every Young Man's Battle" and a girls study of "Every Young Woman's Battle". Everyone is invited to come, keep your eyes open for signs in the hall for more information on each of these studies.
The School Spirit Team: Chloe Johnson and Emily Pentoney,
have been busy planning Spirit Week which will be the 22nd through the 26th of September. They have also designed some AWESOME class t-shirts for this year. I am so excited for everything they have got going on!
The Social Coordination Team: Kattie Parsons and Keina Harmon,
have been brainstorming like crazy and have come up with a carnival theme for our homecoming. There will be your classic carnival activities and we hope to have a time of country line dancing. We are really excited about this and hope you can come out after the games on the 27th and enjoy the night with us. (more details will be sent out soon)
The Community Outreach Team: Adam Troyer and Philip Gordon,
have been on top of the ball with planning our second annual Wash for Life, which will be held on September 13th. Wash for Life is a National movement is to make a greater statement. That statement is that "WE VALUE LIFE" Wash for Life is not an organization it is a movement. Check out their website! (the link is on the right side of this blog) The community outreach team is teaming up with the PTF to hold a community yard sale on the same day as the Wash for Life. The proceeds will go to the Sussex Pregnancy Care Center.
Spiritual Emphasis Team: Luke Mathews and Lauren Henry,
have planned the first chapel and set up a theme for the year, which will be "Striving for Excellence." It is very tough to come back from summer break and be motivated to start school work, but here at Delmarva we begin our classes and a lot is expected. As most of you know we are held to a higher standard and we pray that we will all strive for excellence all year long! Our spiritual emphasis team is also looking forward to September 5th. On the 5th Pastor Rob Brown will be bringing in a group of young adults to help influence and instruct our student body in witnessing and spreading the good news! The Saturday after the 5th will be an optional evangelical outreach in Rehoboth. this will be open to all students and we will be sure to supply you with more information.
We are extremely excited about the 2008-2009 school year. The SLC wants to accomplish as much as possible so we ask for your prayers in our motives and direction. We want everything we do to be done for God's glory and His will be done in each event. If you have any input, questions, or ideas feel free to comment!
Thanks!
